Baww About It

A couple of days ago a family came through my line. As I'm ringing them up, their son (can't be more than nine or ten years old) starts wanting something...a toy of some sort, I think. They couldn't afford it (not many of the people coming through my line can) and told him they'd try and get it later. He wanted it now. This goes back and forth for a little while and I just keep scanning their items. By the time I get don, hit total, and tell them the price, the kid is sitting on the floor whining about how he never gets anything.

The father is rolling his eyes, mom pretends not to hear, and I'm just trying to remember being that age. Eventually I lean over the counter, look down at him, and say; "Complaining children make baby Jesus cry."

I look back up and the dad is trying to suppress a laugh.
