A few days ago we'd just gotten a new truck in so we were busy trying to get it unloaded while running customers through. This isn't unusual except that the phone, this day, kept ringing.
And ringing.
And ringing.
Each time my manager answers, it's a little old lady asking if we have any coffee makers. The answer is always the same, no, we're sold out and haven't been able to find out if they've come in yet. This happens four times and finally my manager hangs up on her the last time. Yes, she felt bad, but after four times it's understandable. Around the end of my shift, my replacement comes in and while I'm counting out change to a customer, the phone starts ringing. My manager says to my replacement; "Answer it, K, I just know it's her again."
He answers and the next thing I hear is; "Good afternoon, how can I help you? No, ma'am. No, we don't have any coffee pots."
We all had a fairly good laugh.
Fast forward to yesterday. I'm ringing up customers when a little old lady totters up with a cart full of stuff. I ring her up when my manager comes up to help with the growing line (same manager as before). I make small talk with the old lady and when I go to hand her the change she says; "Oh, by the way, there was something I was meaning to ask you. Do you have any coffee makers?"
I shot a look out of the corner of my eye at my manager and I actually watched her face turn red in an effort to keep from laughing. She tried to hide a grin by taking a gulp from a water bottle, but did a piss poor job of it.
